I spent another hour with the Apple folks again this morning. I think we have this completely resolved. Rest assured that this was not a Mac problem, it is a problem with my router, and the Mac folks were just kind enough to help me out. Nonetheless, the problem is resolved.
I also purchased a 3-year warranty and Pro Care which entitles me to a year of one-on-one in store support.
So hopefully no more computerness (my term for computer problems) for me.
